MEETING TOPIC 10/9/07: Working with the Screen Actors Guild

How do you join SAG? What are the benefits? How does SAG work with low-budget independent filmmakers? What is financial core? What are residuals? If your goal as an actor is to get paid more than meals, credit, and a DVD to perform in professional films, TV shows, commercials, and other media formats, then you won't want to miss this month's SDF event focusing on the Screen Actors Guild. If you're a producer and you want to know how to get professional actors in your films, bring all your SAG questions to this important event.

HRAIR MESSERLIAN is the San Diego SAG Executive Director. He worked for SAG Producers Pension and Health Plans for 17 years in Miami, New York and Burbank and now oversees SAG branches in San Diego and Nevada. His responsibilities include organizing productions to work under SAG contracts and oversight of all administrative functions. Hrair brings his immense knowledge of all the ins and outs of the union to SDF for one night only and will be ready to answer YOUR questions. He will be joined by San Diego SAG Vice President DON AHLES. Don't miss this amazing opportunity to learn about working as or with professional actors.

Come network with your San Diego filmmaking peers from 6-7 PM, then stay to learn about the Screen Actors Guild!

Don't forget to bring your business cards and head shots! And please be sure to tell everyone you know in the San Diego filmmaking community about this exciting, free event. See you there.

(scheduled guest speaker and content subject to change) (no pets, please)

Hrair Messerlian and Don Ahles tell SDF all about SAG.

Have a follow-up SAG-related question for Hrair? He can be reached by email at hmesserlian (at) sag (dot) org. Or go to the SAG web site, www.sag.org.
