If you thought making a movie was a lot of work, just wait until you try to get it seen. When North County writer/director Glenn Palmedo-Smith wrapped his independently financed feature film El Campo after a six week San Marcos shoot in the fall of 2000, his adventure was just beginning. Find out how his finished film was taken away from him and released to festivals as Los Patriotas, without the main storyline he spent years polishing. Hear how Palmedo-Smith persevered and restored, re-cut, and re-scored his film, then successfully self-distributed it this year to 18 theatres in San Diego and Tijuana as The Hungry Woman, with a nationwide release scheduled for January 2008. If you're a do-it-yourself independent filmmaker, you can't afford to miss this true account of the nuts-and-bolts of do-it-yourself independent filmmaking. We'll see clips from The Hungry Woman and Palmedo-Smith will answer your questions about his amazing journey to bring it to the screen. Come network with your San Diego filmmaking peers from 6-7 PM, then stay to learn about the making of The Hungry Woman! Don't forget to bring your business cards and head shots! And please be sure to tell everyone you know in the San Diego filmmaking community about this exciting, free event. See you there. (scheduled guest speaker and content subject to change)
